Install and set up CERP on Windows

Downloads, installation order, device setup and troubleshooting MF.dll and MFPlat.dll errors.

1 Download the required files

Software prerequisites

Install the x86/x64 runtime prerequisites before starting the app.

Get file

PostgreSQL 18.6 for 64-bit Windows

Install this package if PostgreSQL is selected for your local service. A local database is not needed for cloud-only use.

Get file

CERP Windows Agent

The agent provides local services and device integration according to your installation configuration.

Get file

CERP Windows application

Get the Windows application through the panel link; sign in if the panel login is displayed.

Get file

Persian keyboard

Install the supplied keyboard package if Persian input is needed.

Get file

Remote support

Run the support tool when arranging a support session and share the session information with that technician.

Get file

OPOS integration prerequisites

This link provides Microsoft POS for .NET 1.14.1. A device-specific driver and Service Object may also be required from the manufacturer.

2 Install in this order

  1. Check the system type and Windows edition in Settings → System → About. The PostgreSQL package on this page is x64.
  2. Install the runtime prerequisites. If requested, save your work and restart Windows.
  3. For a PostgreSQL-based local installation, install PostgreSQL and retain the database credentials and connection details.
  4. Run the agent installer as administrator. If PostgreSQL is used, configure its connection in the agent database settings.
  5. Install CERP for Windows, then configure the cloud or local-service connection and license activation using your representative’s information.
  6. For OPOS equipment, install POS for .NET and the compatible device driver. Match the device model and connection mode to the CERP settings.
  7. Install the required keyboard and test a sample transaction, receipt printing and the selected devices.

3 Resolve MF.dll and Media Feature errors

MF.dll, MFPlat.dll or MFReadWrite.dll errors can indicate missing Windows media features. On Windows 10/11 N, install Media Feature Pack through Optional Features. On other editions, missing DLLs do not necessarily require this package.

Open PowerShell or Terminal as administrator

Right-click Start and open Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin). Select a PowerShell tab, then copy and run the complete command below. Downloading the feature requires Windows Update access.

Installation command for Windows 10/11 N

$mediaCapability = Get-WindowsCapability -Online -Name "Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0"
if ($mediaCapability.State -eq "NotPresent") {
    Add-WindowsCapability -Online -Name "Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0"
}
Get-WindowsCapability -Online -Name "Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0"

After installation, State should be Installed. Save your work, restart Windows, then launch CERP again. If no capability is returned, check the Windows edition using winver.

Alternative DISM command in administrator Terminal or CMD

Install the same capability with DISM

DISM /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0
If you are using Windows Server

This command is for Windows Server with Server-Media-Foundation available. Use the previous command on Windows 10/11. Check Restart Needed after installation.

Administrator PowerShell on Windows Server

Install-WindowsFeature Server-Media-Foundation

32-bit and 64-bit installer packages

An MSU package must match both the architecture and Windows build. Bitness alone is not enough. For Windows 10 version 1909 and later and Windows 11 N, use Optional Features or the command above. Do not force installation of a package reported as not applicable.

If the feature download fails, check Windows Update connectivity and network policies with your system administrator. Do not replace individual DLLs from unrelated websites; provide support with the error and Windows edition.

4 Final checks and training

After installation, check CERP startup, service connection, license, keyboard, receipt printing and your devices. Watch the training videos to learn the app workflows.
